        Hiking Trails in Great Smoky Mountains. The park has over miles of trails and it would take years of constant hiking to cover it all. There are routes for all levels of abilities, from short paved trails to steep, backcountry routes of several days. The hike to Spruce Flats Falls in the Great Smoky Mountains begins from the Lumber Ridge Trailhead in Tremont. To reach the trailhead from the Townsend "Y" intersection, drive west on Laurel Creek Road towards Cades Cove. Roughly two-tenths of a mile from the "Y", turn left to proceed towards the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont.

        The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited park in the entire national park system. And for good reason.
